An update.
As it is glaringly obvious I did not get to participate in my own event back in February. This is because my health took a downward turn and I thought I had Hodgkins Lymphona(cancer) at the time.

So far, I am clear on that, but I am going to have surgery in the not entirely distant future for gallbladder/stone removal. My health fluctuates and I have new symptoms I cannot put a name too right now.

I am far more tired lately than I have ever been, and working 40+ hours on top of side work online has me dead tired most days. Muscle weakness has gotten worse. I don’t know the full deal of what’s going on, only some of it. I lost a treasured old void kitty two weeks ago.

Everything has been so much.

I have FureYuri content in the background and will be putting out more of it just slowly. I still love this pairing to pieces, my health just sucks and offline things have been a pressure with little relief.

Look, this is probably going to end up as an unpopular post, because God knows the level of brainrot capitalism and fast consumption caused in people’s brains, but I’d rather not get TV shows for a while if it means writers get their rights defended and recognized.

Entertainment can’t come at the cost of fair pay, healthy work environment and ethical practices.

I have so much to update on. Very soon though. It’s been a ride.

Honestly, after seeing season one of Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation/Mo Dao Zu Shi, Wangxian is on the same level as FureYuri(Tales of Vesperia).

Lan Zhan and Flynn Scifo have so much in common, as do Wei Wuxian and Yuri Lowell.

Injustice? Wei and Yuri will not give two fricks and help, regardless of rules.
Rules? Lan and Flynn abide by them but when it comes to the in danger status of their partners, that’s a different story.

Lan Zhan is also a soft top type, as is Flynn. 
Wei and Yuri are bratty type bottoms.

Both pairs are soulmates. I love this for them.

I’m tired of hearing people say “Disney’s Cinderella is sanitized. In the original tale, the stepsisters cut off parts of their feet to make the slipper fit and get their eyes pecked out by birds in the end.”

I understand this mistake. I’m sure a lot of people buy copies of the complete Grimm’s Fairy Tales, see their tale of Aschenputtel translated as “Cinderella”, and assume what they’re reading is the “original” version of the tale. Or else they see Into the Woods and make the same assumption, because Sondheim and Lapine chose to base their Cinderella plot line on the Grimms’ Aschenputtel instead of on the more familiar version. It’s an understandable mistake. But I’m still tired of seeing it.

The Brothers Grimm didn’t originate the story of Cinderella. Their version, where there is no fairy godmother, the heroine gets her elegant clothes from a tree on her mother’s grave, and where yes, the stepsisters do cut off parts of their feet and get their eyes pecked out in the end, is not the “original.” Nor did Disney create the familiar version with the fairy godmother, the pumpkin coach, and the lack of any foot-cutting or eye-pecking.

If you really want the “original” version of the story, you’d have to go back to the 1st century Greco-Egyptian legend of Rhodopis. That tale is just this: “A Greek courtesan is bathing one day, when an eagle snatches up her sandal and carries it to the Pharaoh of Egypt. The Pharaoh searches for the owner of the sandal, finds her and makes her his queen.”

Or, if you want the first version of the entire plot, with a stepdaughter reduced to servitude by her stepmother, a special event that she’s forbidden to attend, fine clothes and shoes given to her by magic so she can attend, and her royal future husband finding her shoe after she loses it while running away, then it’s the Chinese tale of Ye Xian you’re looking for. In that version, she gets her clothes from the bones of a fish that was her only friend until her stepmother caught it and ate it.

But if you want the Cinderella story that Disney’s film was directly based on, then the version you want is the version by the French author Charles Perrault. His Cendrillon is the Cinderella story that became the best known in the Western world. His version features the fairy godmother, the pumpkin turned into a coach, mice into horses, etc, and no blood or grisly punishments for anyone. It was published in 1697. The Brothers Grimm’s Aschenputtel, with the tree on the grave, the foot-cutting, etc. was first published in 1812.

The Grimms’ grisly-edged version might feel older and more primitive while Perrault’s pretty version feels like a sanitized retelling, but such isn’t the case. They’re just two different countries’ variations on the tale, French and German, and Perrault’s is older. Nor is the Disney film sanitized. It’s based on Perrault.

To me, the best embodiment of modern capitalism is in the phrase “please hold, we are experiencing higher than usual call volume”. I know it’s a lie. You know it’s a lie. But you still hear that line every time you call, regardless of the day or time, because it shifts the blame. It tries to prompt you to blame the other callers instead of asking, “Hey, why are they deliberately understaffing their call centers and making it so difficult to get help?” It takes a failing caused by deliberate, profit-focused management choice, and turns it into a problem with the people using the system, rather than one with the system itself. And that pattern, to me, is the epitome of the modern corporate system.

I can say, at least on Comcast/Xfinity’s end, it’s because they want you to use the apps for everything. I have had multiple employees tell me this, and it is indeed as frustrating for them because they can’t do what they used to before.

It’s intentionally made more difficult so you use the app.
Please never blame employees when it is honestly out of their hands. And other people. It’s a problem they want to be cheap as frick about pretending to care about.
